The curriculum is designed to be developmentally appropriate and to build upon skills
learned at the previous level. Children are first encouraged to explore God's world
with all their senses. Children may select their own activities from a variety of
learning areas. This includes blocks, art, music, science, math, reading, listening,
manipulative toys, dramatic play, sand, water, and writing.
Bible stories and Christian values are integrated with traditional preschool themes. The children have
the opportunity to creatively express themselves through a variety of art media.
Because of our low teacher to child ratio, the teacher are able to guide, observe and
facilitate growth of each individual child.
The preschool works closely with GCISD to make sure the children leaving our program are prepared for kindergarten.
All classes participate in five Enrichment
Programs consisting of Chapel, Music, a Literacy Program, Handwriting Without Tears,
Outdoor Learning Center and Prayer Garden.
Chapel Children in our preschool program attend chapel once a week. Chapel includes songs, prayer and
short bible lesson. The Pastors, Youth Minister, and Preschool Director take turns
leading chapel. Children in
the five year old program will also have a formal bible
study lesson as a part of their curriculum.
Music Our music program is taught by a certified Kindermusik teacher. All children attend music on a weekly
basis. They will explore different rhythms and movements, musical instruments and
special songs.
Literacy Program A literacy program is in place for
all the children in our school. Age appropriate
books are provided for the children
as well as take home book related activities. Our school places a high priority on
encouraging children and their families to read together. We feel this love of reading
will help the children as they advance through the developmental stages towards reading
on their own.
Handwriting Without Tears - The goal of this program is
to make legible and fluent handwriting an easy and automatic skill for all students.
The curriculum uses multi-sensory techniques and consistent habits for letter formation.
It also helps improve a child's self-confidence, pencil grip, body awareness and posture.
Outdoor Learning Center and Prayer Garden - Our Outdoor Learning Center and Prayer
Garden is used throughout our curriculum. The children help with the upkeep and
development of this lovely area. There is a sitting area, potting bench and stone
pathway in this unique learning center. We use native plants that attract wildlife
such as birds and butterflies. This garden is certified by the National Wildlife Federation.
