SENIOR HIGH EVENTS (GRADES 9 THROUGH 12)

Sr. High Youth Group (9th through 12th) - The Sr. Youth group meets each Sunday from 7 to 8:30 pm.  Each week we have an interactive devotion, a snack and some great fellowship. Each month there will also a fellowship event.  During these events the youth get a chance to relax, have some fun and invite a friend to help the group grow closer together.  During the summer the youth attend a Servant Event where we get to put our faith into action.

The Sr. High Youth will meet on Sunday evenings!  Bring your friends and join us from 7-8:30 PM!

CLUSTER GROUPS

Cluster Groups are designed to help youth serve God, get involved in the community and grow together as a group.  As an added bonus, there will be lots of service hours for college as well!

These groups are made up of Jr. and Sr. high youth, and meet once a month to take part in various project around DFW.  These groups are led by caring background checked members of LWLC who will be investing their lives in your youth.

-          The first group will be serving at Woodridge Nursing home, playing games with and spending time with the residents.

-          The second group will be serving at a local Habitat For Humanity work site.

-          The third group will be serving at ‘Pregnancy Help 4 U’ in North Richland Hills.

-          The final group will be serving our local police and fire fighters here in Grapevine.

The Cluster Groups consist of monthly get-togethers where the mentors and the group members meet for their service project and have fellowship as well.  These groups have fixed times they meet, so that you can build your calendar around the meeting times and attend as often as possible.  Also 3-4 times a year the group will meet for an alternate service project or a purely fellowship event.

I see these groups as a way for our youth to grow together and build long-lasting relationships that they can carry with them as they work their way through school and post-high school.

Panel Discussion: Off to College

Join us Sunday, May 21st, at 7 PM, as we share practical advice on how to cope when our children go off to college.  We will focus our discussion on healthy transition and on how we can help our youth prepare for college socially, spiritually and practically.  Even if your children are still a few years away from going off to college, it would be good to start preparing in advance. Invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers! Contact Steve Burke at steve@lwlc.com for more information.

 Mission trips

Each year the youth take two mission trips, an international trip and one inside the United States.  These trips are a great way to build relationships, and help those who are in need.  Most importantly these trips let us serve God and spread the Good News of His death and Resurrection.  Isaiah 6:8

This past year the youth went to Colorado to work at LVR (Lutheran Valley Retreat), a Christian camp, June 18th through the 24th.  We took part in fire mitigation, and built a handicap accessible zip line at LVR. The improvements we made will help LVR continue to serve the Colorado Springs area.  On the way to camp we also stopped to do some White Water rafting on the Bighorn River.

The youth also went to Sumpango Guatemala.  We helped to build a new local playground, as well as volunteered at a local orphanage for children with HIV.  There were also a number of home visits with local missionaries and many opportunities to interact with the local community.

This was another great year for mission trips, as the youth of LWLC were able to bring Jesus, Light of the world to those who live in darkness. John 8:12

2017 Mission trips

June 25th through July 1st we will be serving in Sumpango Guatemala.

July 15th through 23rd we will be serving in Charleston South Carolina.
